Pine City Schools Superintendent Gives Update on Upcoming Year

The Pine City School District is now entering its second year under new leadership.

Superintendent Annette Freiheit (Fry-height) spoke on the district’s main goals this year.

She also touched on what her first year in Pine City was like.

The first day back to school in Pine City is Tuesday, September 5th.

Chisago County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office is giving people the chance to learn about life behind the badge.

The Citizens Academy is being offered to those who live or work in Chisago County.

The program allows participants to learn about law enforcement duties including dispatch, S.W.A.T., traffic stops, community policing/crime prevention, K9, DWI demonstration and more.

The classes will start on September 6th thru October 25, 2017 from 6:30

-9:30pm.

Class capacity is 16 and there are only 2 spots remaining, so if you miss out this year you’ll have to wait until the next one is offered.

Wolf Outreach Program This Weekend

A unique inside look at one of the most complicated animals native to Minnesota is offered this Sunday.

The International Wolf Center in Ely is going on the road to Wild River State Park in Harris for their “Wolves at the Door” program.

The speaker will cover wolf biology, behavior, predator/prey relationships, mythology and fear of wolves, challenges wildlife face and the importance of wildland habitat.

The event is 2-3 pm.
