Hinckley Crime Bust Leads to Arrests, Recovery of Property

Large-scale law enforcement activity in Hinckley on June 14th led to a multitude of arrests and citations in the area.

Pine County Sheriff Jeff Nelson described the occurrence as "law enforcement saturation", when multiple law agencies come together in an effort to make arrests and seek out those with warrants. Participating agencies included Pine County, Mille Lacs Tribal Police, and others from surrounding counties.

"What we'll do is pick an area and focus attention on doing traffic stops, we'll get a warrant list together of people that live in that area, and make some intentional efforts to see if we can pick them up," Nelson said. "Putting extra law enforcement resources in an area can really help."

During the six hour operation, 49 traffic stops were made with seven arrests and or citations handed down. In addition authorities recovered a stolen watercraft.
