After three years with the district, Annette Freiheit has announced that she will be leaving her position as Superintendent of Pine City Public Schools.
The news came during a school board work session that was held on Monday, May 20.
Freiheit is leaving the district to become the Superintendent of Winona Area Public schools.
"This is an opportunity for me to be closer to my family," Freheit said in a statement to WCMP. Her husband is part owner of a business based out of Rochester, Minn.
She went onto say, "Its a larger district, so I'm moving up. I went to school at Winona State University, so I'm very excited to get back to the community."
The Winona School District announced on Thursday, May 16 that Freheit would replace Superintendent Rich Dahman, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Freiheit's contract with the district is up on June 30.
