WCMP Radio has been named the 2019 Minnesota Twins John Gordon Radio Affiliate of the Year. Each year since 2012, the Twins choose one of their affiliates to be honored with this award. WCMP is one of 81 radio stations across a five state radius that broadcasts Twins’ baseball.
WCMP received the award for the focus and work the station does to promote our local communities especially in the area of high school sports. Twins President Dave St. Peter presented the station with the award at an event on September 7th.
Joshua Miron, morning show host and production manager, had the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the game in honor of the award. The most exciting part of receiving the award is WCMP will be receiving a grant for $5,000 to benefit youth baseball in the Pine City community. WCMP will be matching funds of that grant to give a total of $10,000 toward Pine City youth baseball.
“WCMP is very excited to be able to give back to our local community in this way,” Joshua Miron said at the event. “Being able to help grow the sport of baseball for young kids in the Pine City area is what it is all about.”
