Joe Keyport

A two-vehicle crash near Pine City has sent two people to the hospital and led first responders to discover a meth-like substance.

In a press release from the Pine County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a scene near the intersection of Henriette Road and Town Hall Road in the early hours of October 17. On the scene, responders found two vehicles that had been involved in a collision.

The crash caused the driver of a Pontiac Grand Am to be ejected from the car and sustain severe injuries, which required her to be airlifted to a hospital in the Twin Cities.

The passenger in the other vehicle also sustained minor injuries and required transport to a medical facility.

During the investigation of the crash, deputies discovered a white crystal-like substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, in the Grand Am.

The accident is currently being reconstructed by the Minnesota State Patrol, and the case has been sent to the County Attorney's Office for further review.
