71-year-old Shafer man dies after motorcycle collision with deer

A 71-year-old Shafer man died in the early hours of Sunday after his motorcycle struck a deer in Chisago County.

According to the state patrol crash report, the motorcycle and deer collided near the intersection of Highway 95 and Pleasant Valley Road in Franconia Township around 12:45 a.m.

The driver was identified as Shafer resident Bruce Filmore, who died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office, Lakes Area Police Department, and Shafer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
