A Boil Water Advisory is in effect in Rush City after a loss of pressure on Jan. 24 may have caused contamination.
According to the advisory, the city experienced a loss of pressure in its water system due to a battery back-up failure of the master water treatment plant controls around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Within 30 minutes of the notification, water pressure was restored.
The impacted area includes everyone connected to the Rush City water system.
The advisory states that residents should not drink water before boiling it.
"Bring all water to a full, rolling boil, let it boil for one minute or longer, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water," the advisory reads in part. "Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice."
The city is required by the Minnesota Department of Health to complete four water tests as soon as possible, and results are expected by Tuesday, Jan. 27.
