Chisago County Sheriff's Office investigating after driver sustains gunshot wound on I-35 near Harris exit

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident where a driver sustained a gunshot wound on I-35 near the Harris exit on Thursday morning.
According to a news release from the sheriff's office, a passenger in a southbound vehicle reported that the driver of the vehicle had been shot in the leg by a bullet that appeared to have entered through the driver's side door around 10:40 a.m.
Chisago County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Minnesota State Patrol troopers, DNR officers, and emergency medical personnel immediately responded to the area.
The release states that deputies arriving to the vicinity of the incident reported hearing gunfire consistent with rifle target shooting.
Law enforcement canvassed the area on foot and deployed drones to locate
the source of the gunfire.
Three adult males were found on private property along I-35, shooting rifles at a target positioned in the direction of the interstate.
According to the release, the estimated distance from the shooting location to where the victim was struck is over 1,500 feet. The three individuals are cooperating with authorities.
The victim, a 48-year-old Duluth man, was transported to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three other occupants in the vehicle were not injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
