A new crosswalk flasher will be going in near the Pine City High school for people needing to cross Mainstreet near the Civic Center.
The project is a collaboration between Pine City, Pine County, and the school district to address safety issues for pedestrians.
"Cross country uses it, ALC uses it, hockey kids use it, and that development uses it," School Board member Becci Palmblade told the Pine City School Board. "It's a real safety issue when there is no light there."
The Pine City City Council approved quotes and the site plan for the LED flashers on both sides of Mainstreet at Wilcox Avenue during their September 16 meeting.
The project timeline has the bases for the poles being installed before the ground freezes, with the rest of the equipment being installed sometime in December.
