Dragons Baseball Off to a Hot Start

The Pine City baseball team is off to a 2-0 start.


Pine City 18

MLWR 1


The Dragons started the season with a strong showing against the Rebels. Pine City scored 13 runs in the 1st inning alone. They would give up a single run in the bottom of the 1st, but they would be the lone run of the game for the Rebels. The Dragons added three runs in the 3rd and two runs in the 4th inning. The game would end after 5 innings due to the 10 run rule. Isaiah Hasz picthed 4 innings in the win. He would end the game with eight strikeouts! Nick Plasek would pitch the final inning and grab three more strikeouts. At the plate, Cole Waxberg and Mason Loucks both drove in four runs for Pine City. Ryan Plasek drove in three runs of his own.


Pine City 7

Ogilvie 1


In the second game of the year Pine City faced off against Ogilvie, who came into the game at 3-0. The Dragons would make quick work of the Lions in the 1st inning, as Ogilvie went three up and three down. The bottom of the 1st inning would see the Dragons put a run on the board. Pine City's lead didn't last long though, Ogilvie would score a run in the top of the 2nd inning to tie the game. Pine City would score again in the 3rd inning, putting three more runs up. The Dragons would add two runs in the 4th and one more insurance run in the 6th inning. Ryan Plasek would come in relief for Nick Plasek in the 7th. Ryan gave up one hit but pitched the last batter into a double play for the final two outs. In his 6 innings pitched Nick Plasek struck out 4 batters, and Ryan struck out one. Cole Waxberg would again lead the team with four RBI's.
