Dragons Fall in Important Section Game Against Mora

Last night the Dragon boys traveled to Mora to take on the rival Mustangs.

Mora scored first but it didn't take long for the Dragons to put themselves on the board. As the 1st half went along, Pine City was able to pull ahead and lead 18-11. The Dragons built a 26-18 lead with only 4 minutes left in the 1st half. But the Mustangs would not go into halftime quietly, the fought back and scored 10 unanswered points to take a 28-26 lead into the break.

The 2nd half started with fireworks early on. Mora started with the ball but Luke Wilson stole the ball and tied the game at 28, a free throw gave them a one point advantage. Mora would answer with a bucket themselves. Each team scored again as Mora held the lead 32-31. After the back and forth battle Mora pulled ahead by 6 and soon it was a 10 point lead 52-42. As the Mustangs continued to increase their lead the Dragons offense went cold only managing to score 4 more point the entire 2nd half. Mora, who likes to rely more on defense, showed how dangerous and quick their offense can be. Mora seemingly couldn't miss as they found plenty of open spots to shoot. Mora's defense was also outstanding holding the Dragons offense, who was the highest scoring team in the section, to 20 points in the 2nd half. The Mustangs continue to have the Dragons number as Mora won 74-46.

Pine City falls to 17-7 on the season and will host AAA Chisago Lakes next Tuesday. Mora improves to 19-3 on the year and will play another section opponent Milaca tonight.
