Hinckley-Finlayson brought their volleyball team to Mora Tuesday night.
The first saw was very evenly matched and was close throughout the entire set. The Jaguars were able to pull away near the end of the set winning 25-22 going up one set. The 2nd set was a complete 180. Mora made changes during the break and after giving up two points to start the set, they started to run away with it. They controlled the set and never allowed the Jags to sniff the lead again. Mora won the set 25-13 and tied the match at 1 a piece. The third set began with Hinckley-Finlayson scoring the first points for the third straight set. They looked primed to run away with the third set as they stormed out to a 5-1 lead. Mora was able to stop the slide and tie the match. Neither team could pull away, the Jags had a three point lead but that quickly evaporated as Mora once again tied the set. As the back and forth continued Mora slowly gained momentum and started to pull away. Once tied at 15 the Mustangs went 10-2 run to end the set with the 25-17 win. The Jaguars had to win this set in order to give themselves a chance in the 5th. But Mora started the set with the hot hand jumping out to a 10-1 lead early. It looked grim for Hinckley-Finlayson, as the match reached its midway point they trailed 18-11. But the Jags found a way to swing momentum their way and went on a 7-1 run to pull within one of the Mora lead. But as quickly as the Jags found life the Mustangs slammed the door and gained more ground leading 22-19. But that didn't last long as the Jaguars ripped of three straight points tying the game at 22. It looked as if the game was bound for a fifth set. But the Mustangs were able to close out the set 25-23 claiming the match win 3-1.
Mora grabs their second win of the season and will head to Albany on Thursday.
Hinckley-Finlayson will head to Pine City on Thursday for a Great River Conference matchup.
