Laven Breaks All-Time Record with Shutout Win Over Mora

The Dragons hosted their rival Mora Thursday night in Pine City. The Dragons came into this game hoping to get themselves off a two game losing skid. The game would be a typical Pine City vs Mora/Milaca battle with not a lot of consistent play and a lot of penalties. In fact, there were 72 total minutes of penalties in the game.

Pine City was hoping to start strong offensively and clean up defensive play and they accomplished both of their goals. Seth Linnell scored first for the Dragons in the opening period. Linnell scored once again later in the same period. Dusty Bergstrom would add a goal and Tim Thole scored one too giving the Dragons a 4-0 lead. In the 2nd period, neither team managed to score until the end of the period. Seth Linnell scored his hat trick goal giving Pine City 5-0 lead going into the 3rd period. That was Linnell's first career hat trick.

In a third period where almost the entire 17 minutes there was someone in the penalty box, neither team was able to take advantage and grab a goal to finish off a 5-0 win for Pine City.

This was a memorable night for the Pine City Dragons as Alex Laven completed a shutout against the rival Mustangs to grab his 40th career win. This is a new Dragons record for all-time wins. The win was also head coach Grant Nicoll's 100th career win as a Pine City coach.

The Dragons move to 14-4 on the season, and will host Chisago Lakes next Tuesday. The Mustangs fall to 12-7 on the season and will host Moose Lake Area Friday.

Congratulations Grant Nicoll and Alex Laven!
