Lily Wilson Scores Her 2,000 Career Point in Playoff Victory

#3 seeded Pine City Dragons hosted #14 seed Rush City last night, in the 1st round the section playoffs.

Both teams started the game by scoring on their first possessions. But after that the game slowed down. The defenses on both sides tightened and kept the game close throughout much of the 1st half. The Dragons were later able to find a rhythm and started to build a lead. Pine City went into the half with a 29-14 lead. Coming out of the half, the Dragons continued to find the bucket. Early on in the 2nd half, Lily Wilson went to the foul line. She hit her first of two free throws, which gave her 2,000 career points! But she knew there was still a lot of game left to play, and she helped the Dragons build on their lead. The Tigers were able to force the Dragons into a few empty offensive possessions. Unfortunately, Rush City wasn’t able to form a comeback. The Dragons got the victory 70-36. Lily Wilson finished with 21 points, leading the Dragons in scoring.

The Tigers season didn’t end the way they hoped. But they have reason to be excited. They will return all 5 of their starters next season. The Dragons will advance to the 2nd round of the Section 6AA playoffs. They will travel to St. Cloud State on Saturday and play Melrose at 430pm.

Congratulations Lily Wilson on 2,000 career points!
