Mora Defends Home Court Against Crusaders

Mora hosted St Cloud Cathedral on senior night.

This was a big game for both in a couple different way. Mora was looking to get some revenge on the Crusaders, as they gave the Mustangs their only conference loss earlier in the year. The Mustangs were also trying to keep pace with Albany for a chance at the Granite Ridge Conference title. Cathedral wanted to grab the win and take away Mora's chance at the conference title but also improve their QRF standings.

Defenses were a mainstay in the 1st half of the game. Neither team could execute the game plan the way they hoped. But Mora was able to grab more successful shots then Cathedral. This was in large part to their defense, grabbing 6 steals in the half as well as forcing the Crusaders into bad plays which lead to turnovers. Mora held a 24-8 lead at the half.

The 2nd half was a bit of a different story, but still similar. It was different cause both offenses had found more open space to shot, or forced themselves open. The defenses though they allowed more points than the 1st half, they were still causing problems. The Mustangs built on their lead from half and at one point held a 20 point lead. But with 5 minutes left Cathedral's offense got hot and went on a 10-2 scoring run. The Crusaders were now only down by 12 and it felt as if momentum had completely shifted in their favor. But that was not the case, after their scoring run Mora shutdown any rhythm they though they'd found. Mora would go on a 13-4 run themselves to end the game. The Mustangs claimed victory on senior night 55-34, as well as kept pace with Albany.

Mora moves to 22-3 on the season and will travel to Albany on Friday to decide who will be crowned Granite Ridge Conference Champs. Mora could also improve to the #2 seed with a win over the Huskies on Friday.
