Pine City Falls at Home to St. Francis

The Dragons boys basketball team hosted the Saints on Monday night.

St. Francis came in with a lot of height, they had four players who were 6'4 or taller. Despite this Pine City still played well. The first half was one of momentum, neither team got out to a particularly hot start. The pace however was set early on and it could be describe as a nascar race. The pedal was down and was not to be let up till the checked flag waved. This started to lean in favor of the Saints as they pulled out to a 28-18 lead. But much like all year the Dragons will never go down without a fight. They showed that fight but marching back and scoring 10 straight unanswered points to tie the game at 28 with under 4 minutes to go. But as mentioned before this was a game of momentum and St. Francis had stolen it back before half. They ended the half on an 8-2 run putting them ahead 36-39 at the break.

Unfortunately, the height of St. Francis took its toll on Pine City and it became a one sided 2nd half. The Dragons were outscored 45-22 in the final half. That didn't dampen the fighting spirit Pine City has. They continued fly up and down the court trying to make plays and force something to go their way. Even the younger guys who came in battled hard until the final buzzer. Pine City fell 81-52.

With the loss the Dragons now sit at 10-9 on the year and will host conference foe Braham on Tuesday night.
