Pine City's Harlow Pennies have 'Tiny' hopes to play in storied concert series

Pine City musical artists The Harlow Pennies have "tiny" ambitions for 2026 — Tiny Desk Concert ambitions, that is.

On Thursday, Jan. 22, the folk-leaning outfit featuring Michaela Engh and Allie Gosen submitted an entry to perform in the storied NPR concert series.

Filmed at Gosen's desk at the Pine City High School, Engh and Gosen performed "Passenger Seat" with guitar accompaniment from Steve Clemens.

Gosen said Clemens is a fellow 2018 graduate from the Pine City High School; he's been an avid musician since 2016.

If selected by a panel of judges — including NPR music staff, radio station DJs, and Tiny Desk Concert alumni — The Harlow Pennies would play a concert in Washington, D.C., and perform as part of the Tiny Desk Contest On the Road Tour.

The Harlow Pennies plan to release their debut album, Final Girls, in 2026.
