Pine City Trap Results for Week 2

Coach Johnson gives us an update on the Dragons trap team.

Competitive Week 2, April 27, 2025

Sunday found the Dragon trap shooters facing cloudy skies and tricky winds. In spite of the less than perfect conditions, the team shot well. Sophomore Evan Benolken scored the team’s first perfect round, hitting 25 straight and leading the team with 47 hits out of 50 targets. He said the targets were coming out high and rising quickly once the wind hit them. He has been near the top of the leader board all season, as has senior Ryan Carl. Ryan’s 44 hits were good for second on the team. Austin Gariepy continued to impress with a 43, followed closely by Evan Doenz with 42 and Milo Babolik with 41. Caleb Johnson moved into the top 10 nailing 40 targets, a score also achieved by Levi Kraft. Charles Maloney followed close behind with 38 hits, one ahead of Nate Burns and Colton Mohr. Top shooters for the girls were Macie Babolik with a 36 and Dani Holmstrom with a 33. Coach Cindy Stolp, who has been with the team since its inception 9 years ago, said, “This is a really great group of kids. They shoot well and they get along so well with each other. They are a pleasure to work with.” Coach Brendt Nelson added, “We have a number of real young kids who are really shooting well for beginners.” Results from Week 1 showed the team average was 30 out of 50 targets. That is the best any Dragon team has shot this early in the season. Next Sunday will mark the third week of competitive shooting.
