Pine County Health and Human Services opened its newly renovated Public Health offices in the Pine County Courthouse this week.
Previously located in the old courthouse in Pine City, Health and Human Services Director Becky Foss says being back in the courthouse means they’re central to other departments.
"We are excited to be back at the Courthouse because we have the opportunity to coordinate our services with other departments," Foss told WCMP. "For example, we have a social worker in the jail a couple of hours a week to arrange services as inmates get discharged. Instead of being house two miles away and having to go back and forth, somebody may be able to come right up to this floor and get access to services here."
The renovated space will provide residents in the south end of Pine County services like child support, financial assistance, social services, and public health.
The department moved into the new space on Friday, October 1, and reopened to the public on Monday, October 4.
