Pine County is seeking public feedback on an updated draft of the county's hazard mitigation plan.
According to a news release from Denise Anderson, the county's emergency management deputy director, the plan is multi-jurisdictional, including all cities and townships within Pine County.
Pine County Emergency Management has worked in cooperation with U-Spatial at the University of Minnesota Duluth and representatives from county departments, city and township governments, and other participating stakeholders.
The release explains that the hazard mitigation plan identifies "cost-effective and sustainable actions to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to human life or property from natural hazards."
Updating the plan allows Pine County and its jurisdictions to be eligible for future hazard mitigation assistance grant funding through FEMA.
The review and comment period for the plan will run through Wednesday, Dec. 17. The plan is accessible via the county's hazard mitigation plan website.
