Postseason for Volleyball is Here!

We've turned the corner from Summer to Fall, and with that comes playoffs! Here's a look at who, when, and where our local volleyball teams will play.

Class A(Not yet seeded, will be officially seeded Oct 23rd)

Section 5A East

Mille Lacs presumed #2 seed in Section

The Raiders were again a dominate team any where they went this season, finishing 16-10. They did suffer a tough 4 game slide at the end of the season, but turned it around with an impressive 3-1 performance at the Upsala tournament. If they do receive the #2 seed they would get a first round bye then host the winner of #7 vs #10, which could possibly be Hill City or Northland, on 10/27 at 7pm.

Braham presumed #4 seed in Section

The Bombers record won't reflect how truly talented this team is. Finishing with a record of 8-15 may not come off the page at you, but this team is talented and has alot of fight in them. They would host Ogilvie on 10/27 if they do in fact receive the 4th seed.

Ogilvie presumed #5 seed in Section

The Lions are another team who's record won't tell you the whole story finishing 9-13. They are a young team but seemed to get better and into more of a rhythm as the season went along.

East Central presumed #8 seed in Section

The Eagles faced a ton of tough competition this year and faced it head on. Now finishing 4-16 is certainly not what they hoped for, but teams may overlook them and their ok with that. They like being the underdog and could use that mentality to surprise a team or two. They would have a play in game against McGregor on 10/26 if they were the 8th seed.

Class AA

Section 6AA(Not yet seeded, will be officially seed Oct 22nd)

Foley presumed #7 seed in Section

The Falcons finished with a respectable 14-9 record, which in many other sections would be good enough for a top 2 or 3 seed. But because their section is home to 14 teams they're smack dab in the middle. If that is the seeding they get they'd host Minnewaska on 10/26.

Milaca presumed #13 seed in Section

Being near the bottom of a section one might assume a team didn't have many wins if any at all. But Milaca finished 10-16 on the season, but again they're in a large section. If they do wind up as the 13th seed they'd play on the road on 10/26 against St. Cloud Cathedral possibly...

Section 7AA South

Rush City #1 seed in Section

It should be no surprise to anyone that the Tigers was again are the #1 seed as they finished at 24-2. The Tigers are the favorite to not only make it to the section championship but also to make it back to state. They know they'll have a target on their back, so they'll have to be at more than their best every match. They'll host Mora on 10/25, if they win they'd host the next round on 10/27 against the winner of Duluth Marshall and Barnum.

Pine City #3 seed in Section

The Dragons finished an impressive 18-9 campaign as the #3 seed. This is a team who can be dominate if they eliminate the mental mistakes. If they're able to do that there's no reason they won't be able to battle Rush City in the semi final section game. They will host MLWR round one on 10/25. If they win they could host or go on the road round 2. If Hinckley-Finlayson beats Esko PC would host if Esko wins then they'd play in Esko round 2.

Hinckley-Finlayson #7 seed in Section

The Jags finished 9-13 on the season. This is yet another team who's record may fool you. A team who's heading into the playoffs with an upset on their mind. They'll play in Esko on 10/25 for round one.

Mora #8 seed in Section

The Mustangs finished 6-20 on the year. But this team thrives on coming back from behind. This is a squad who thrives on being doubted and doesn't panic when it seems like the match is headed for a landslide. They'll play Rush City round one.

Class AAA

Section 7AAA

North Branch #4 seed in Section

The Vikings ended the season with a 15-9 record and at times looked like the best team in the section. They'll host round one on 10/25 against Princeton. If they win they'll head to Cloquet for round two on 10/30.

Princeton #5 seed in Section

The Tigers wrapped up the season with a 12-14 record. A record that could've easily had a few more wins. They'll face conference foe North Branch round one.

Class AAAA

Section 7AAAA

Cambridge-Isanti #4 seed in Section

The Bluejackets finished with a 10-17 record and 6th in the section. But they were a much more dominate team than what their record says and they were seeded as such, with the #4 seed. With that they'll host round one on 10/25 against Blaine. If they win they'd head to Anoka round two on 10/30.

Good luck to all of our local volleyball squads!
