The Rush City Tigers traveled to Hinckley to take on the Jaguars last night.
The Tigers came into this game after a tough tournament in Mora on Saturday. They had one loss outside any tournaments, and that was to a 3a school North Branch. Hinckley-Finlayson was looking to get back on the winning side of things after going 1-3 at the MLWR tournament on Saturday.
The first set started out with the Tigers taking control early but the Jaguars wouldn’t go down easy. Hinckley-Finlayson scored nine straight points to get back within a couple points of the lead. After the nine point tear Rush City decided to call a timeout. This proved to help as after the timeout they went on to win set one 25-18. The second set was an early back and forth battle. But Rush City soon grabbed a lead and built on it and won set two 25-10. Set three was back and forth early again, but once Rush City pulled out to a lead they never looked back. Winning set three 25-12.
Rush City improved to 11-4 on the season and grew their series lead over Hinckley-Finlayson since 2003 to 22-15. Rush City will host Braham on Thursday.
Hinckley-Finlayson falls to 5-8 on the season. They will wait a week and play East Central next Tuesday in Finlayson.
