Emergency personnel responded to an explosion near Willow River on Friday afternoon. According to a news release from the Pine County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting explosions around 1:45 p.m. An explosion was reported in a rural area west of Willow River. Pine City hosted Mille Lacs on Thursday night. The Dragons were able to score first but it wasn't long before the Raiders answered to tie the game. But the Raiders were able to go on a 26-3 run which left Pine City reeling.

The historic Sandstone school building known colloquially as "The Rock" has been rechristened amid an ongoing housing redevelopment project. Pine City traveled to Milaca on Tuesday night. Both of these teams came in looking to improve their section records, plus a win improves their QRF, which could go a long way come playoff time. Once the game began, both teams took some time to settle in.
