Pine County recently approved a joint powers agreement that would preserve wildlife areas.

The agreement is a partnership between the Pine County Land Department and the DNR.

Mark Wester of the DNR updated the public on some of the progress for those sides working with one another.

"We've had a real good discussion, we have crews in there. We're working good with the county. And that's what the joint powers agreement is all about: so that we can keep that good relationship with the county, keep that trail system open, and go forward."

The joint powers agreement centers around maintaining access across county managed lands to the Storlie and McGowan Lake Wildlife Management Areas.

The areas approved included the Matthew Lourey Trail as well.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office recently received an uncommon donation.

A large collection of old, unwanted beanie babies were turned in from a family.

The stuffed animals will be used by the department in various scenarios involving children, helping in different ways to calm or comfort them.

Chisago County Deputies will now be armed with 340 of the stuffed animals to give away throughout their jurisdiction.
