The Evergreen Forest Fire first reported in the Chengwatana State Forest on Oct. 17 has been 70 percent contained as of Wednesday, Oct. 23.
According to an update, firefighting resources continue to secure containment lines to decrease the potential for fire spread.
Firefighters are also monitoring dropping leaves, and suppressed a small reburn in the interior of the fire.
The wildfire, located 10 miles east of Pine City, is measured at 167 acres. The cause remains under investigation.
Approximately 4,500 acres of the Chengwatana State Forest have been temporarily closed to the public due to the active wildfire.
Firefighters will continue to work inward along the fire's perimeter in efforts to battle the blaze.
