Costly Storm Rips Through Kanabec County

A storm that tore through Kanabec County last week caused significant damage.

The storm cost the county 50 thousand dollars in road damage and wiped out a significant portion of crops in the area as well.

The storm forced the Snake River to rise eight feet.

Crews worked hard throughout the weekend to repair all damaged and flooded roads in the affected areas.

Rush City Fundraiser for School in Tanzania

A fundraiser is being held this week to benefit a school in Tanzania.

The fundraiser will benefit the Namnyaki Girls Secondary School in Tanzania.

The school opened in 2013 and currently enrolls 120 girls.

The fundraiser is held at 6-8:30 p.m. July 14 at Chucker’s Bowl and Lounge in Rush City.

Knife Lake Park Beach Opening?

Kanabec County is considering opening its first ever county park.

The Park would be located in place of the Knife Lake Park rest area on Highway 65.

A public swimming beach is also a possibility for the proposed park, along with a picnic shelter.

Bulrush Golf Tournament

Bulrush Golf Course is hosting a brand new tournament to benefit armed forces veterans.

The inaugural Tee it up for the Troops is July 29th starting at 1:30 pm with an opening ceremony.

Kayla Defenbaugh of Bulrush Golf Course said the goal of the event is to give back to veterans.

The opening ceremony will be feature a color guard and even a flyover.

The tournament signup cost is $300.
