North Branch Carjacking Suspect Dead in Officer-Involved Shooting

The suspect wanted for a carjacking in North Branch is dead following an officer-involved shooting.
After a failed first car-jacking, the man stole a second car after showing a gun to the driver, said North Branch Police Chief Dan Meyer.
The car was located in Fish Lake Township near Harris, with both the suspect and a child inside.
Officers from the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, North Branch Police Department, and State Patrol responded to the scene where they opened fire on the man, killing him.
Chief Meyer touched on the difficulty of the ordeal for all parties.
The BCA has now taken over the investigation.
Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Isanti County
A fatal motorcycle crash took place in Isanti County Sunday night.
The crash happened in Maple Ridge Township in a rural area.
Deputies used the drivers’ cell phone to locate him when he was late returning home.
The individual was identified as 47 year old Paul Allan Johnston of Stanchfield.
Johnston was pronounced dead on the scene.
After an investigation it’s believed the motorcycle failed to make curve in the road and struck a sign.
It’s currently unknown if any other factors contributed to the crash.
