A position long in the making is finally a reality thanks to a partnership between the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and Pine County.
The Band recently donated $25,000 to a community coach position, an amount Pine County matched.
Pine County Attorney Reese Frederickson outlined that the person in the community coach position would essentially be a go-between for county officials and Mille Lacs Band Youth.
Frederickson added that some of their goals are lowering truancy and keeping young people out of the system and in schools.
The position of community coach will be filled in the coming months.
