Pine County recently discussed the research being done on potentially introducing elk into the Nemadji State Forest.

The board also made it clear that while it supports the research being done, it’s not for or against the placement of elk, yet. A potential introduction into the wild for the elk would either be in the Cloquet Valley, Nemadji-St. Croix, or Fon du Lac state forests.
