A person tried to scam free beer from the Pine County Fair last weekend.
The fair board was contacted by a company that sells event tickets to inform them that a person was trying to buy rolls of tear off event tickets similar to the beer tickets used in the beer garden.
The Pine County Sheriff's Office got the name of the individual and contacted them. Once the person sobered up, it was determined that there were no intentions to follow through with the plan to counterfeit beer tickets.
This was the first time Pine County Sheriff Jeff Nelson had heard of someone trying to attempt something like that before. Sheriff Nelson said that the idea was clever but it is still criminal.
