Man Airlifted from Rock Creek after Cement Truck Incident

From the Pine County Sheriff's Office,

"On August 23 rd at 8:20 PM Pine County 911 received a report of an accident near 560th St and Glendale Ave in the city of Rock Creek. Initial information was vague due to poor cellphone reception.

Deputies arriving on scene observed a cement mixer type truck and a skidsteer type loader on the roadway. A witness was tending to the operator of the skidsteer who had what was described as serious injuries. The male was flown from the scene to a hospital in the Twin Cities.

The investigation into the incident so far indicates the cement truck had become stuck entering a field approach road. The skidsteer operator was out of the machine attempting to hook up a chain, when the truck started to back up pining the man between the truck and skidsteer.

The operator of the truck was identified and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The truck driver was subsequently arrested and jailed at Pine County on charges of criminal vehicular operation. Formal charges are pending from the County Attorney’s Office. No further information is available at this time on the injured male.

Assisting at the scene were Pine City Fire, Essentia Ambulance and the State Patrol."
