Inmate Escapes from Pine County Jail


The Pine County jail is reporting that an inmate escaped Monday night.

A press released from the Pine County Sheriff's Office says that just before 7:30 a female alleged that she was going out to work on the work release program and left the facility. Minutes later staff determined that the inmate had been released in error and staff were notified of an escape.

Pine County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the courthouse and began to search.

The inmate as located less than an hour later at 8:08 p.m. walking down Henriette Rd near Meadow Creek Lane and taken into custody.

Jail administration is investigating the incident and reviewing all security measures to prevent this from happening in the future. Reports have also been sent to the Pine County Attorney's Office for further review.
