Pine City High School Graduate Ryan Anderson Wins John Beargrease 120

Former Pine City native and high school graduate Ryan Anderson has won his second John Beargrease 120 sled dog race.

Anderson crossed the finish line at 7:19 Monday morning. He completed the journey in 10 hours, 13 minutes, and 34 seconds.

Anderson beat Martha Schouweiler of Irma Wisconsin, who had won the previous four years, by less than 10 minutes.

Anderson first won the 120-mile, mid-distance race in 2001.

Since that first win, Anderson went on to win the nearly 400-mile Marathon Competition in 2011, 2015 and 2017.

He now lives in St. Croix Falls with his family and 40 dog kennel. He has competed in dog sled races all over the US and Canada including a run in the 2017 Iditarod.
