Eric Coleman Sentenced to 12.5 Years in Prison

Eric Coleman has been sentenced to 12.5 years in prison after he was involved in a crash that killed Alan Geisenkoetter, Jr last year on Chisago Lake.

45-year-old Coleman was allegedly drunk when he slammed his snowmobile in an ice house that the 8-year-old was ice fishing with his family in.

Coleman has had a history of operating motor vehicles while under the influence with multiple DWI arrests leading up to this incident.

In December of 2018, a jury found Coleman guilty of third-degree murder, two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, two counts of criminal vehicular operation causing bodily harm and two counts of driving while intoxicated.

This crash has resulted in Minnesota Legislature passing "Little Alan’s Law," which stops individuals who have been convicted of driving while intoxicated in Minnesota from operating boats, snowmobiles and ATVs.
