Two Men Arrested in Pine County in Connection to Passing Counterfeit Bills


Two men have been arrested after they allegedly attempted to use a counterfeit bill at a Pine City business.

On Thursday, February 7, the suspects were denied by the business after they tried to use a fake $50 bill.

A witness managed to get a description of the suspect's vehicle as they left the premises. The vehicle and suspect description matched the description of two suspects whom Pine County had information were in the area passing counterfeit money at area businesses.

According to a press release from the Pine County Sheriff's Office, the suspects and vehicle were located on I-35 around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8.

During the stop, counterfeit bills and narcotics were found in the vehicle.

26-year-old Robert Michael Leach of Fridley and 27-year-old Drew Christian Nungesser of Zimmerman were arrested and held in the Pine County Jail to await formal charges.

A search warrant executed on a location in the Hinckley area connected to the suspects lead the investigators to recover numerous counterfeit bills as well as equipment and materials for manufacturing counterfeit money.

Nungesser and Leach have been charged with counterfeit money possession and manufacturing.
