Inmate Accused of Slashing Counselor's Throat Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder

The inmate who slashed a councilors throat at the Minnesota Sex Offender Program in Moose Lake has pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault.

George Mack Jr. used an improvised weapon made from a razor blade, a toothbrush, dental floss, and a rubber band to assault a clinical supervision who was running a group therapy session in January. The suspect was not apart of the group and attacked his victim from behind.

Mack was subdued by staff after the victim ran to escape his attacker, and the suspect assaulted a second staff member.

Mack entered the guilty plead in a Carlton County Court Monday.

He will be back in court to be sentenced on March 8.
