An air quality alert issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency remains in place for Pine County through 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to a news release from the MPCA, an additional round of heavy surface smoke from southern Canadian wildfires is anticipated to transport into northern Minnesota.
The MPCA warns that sensitive groups should limit time spent outdoors and prolonged or heavy exertion while the alert is in effect.
Residents are advised to reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to air pollution, including outdoor burning.
