Arrest made after Vietnam-era soldier statue is stolen, later returned to Chisago County business

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest after a Vietnam-era soldier statue was stolen and subsequently returned to a Nessel Township business.


According to a news release, the owner of Rush Point Store reported the statue, which is valued at $3,500, stolen from the property in the early hours of July 5.


Three suspects and their vehicle were seen in surveillance video, and a clip was posted to social media during the investigation.


Rush Point Store staff and sheriff's office deputies obtained information that the suspects may attempt to return the statue.


The release states that the statue arrived back on the property around 11:20 a.m., and deputies helped the suspect to return the statue to its previous place.


The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Maplewood resident Ryan Warling, was arrested and transported to the Chisago County Jail on a felony charge of theft.


The sheriff's office is "confident" the two other suspects have also been identified as an 18-year-old from Staples, and a 19-year-old St. Croix Falls resident.
