Bombers end Regular Season on High Note

Braham hosted Chisholm in their regular season finale on Wednesday night.

The Bluestreaks began the game with the ball, which didn't last long. Braham was able to hold Chisholm to a 3 and out and force a punt. Braham needed one play to go from their own side of the 50 into the redzone, a 42 yard run from Carsyn Londgren. Two plays later the Bombers were in the endzone thanks to a Dulton Bengtson 12 yard rush, they would convert the two and take a 8-0 lead with only 3 minutes off the clock in the 1st quarter.

Braham was playing near perfect defense for much of the first half not allowing any chunk plays and holding Chisholm out of the redzone. Braham was able to add a couple more scores thanks to two rushing touchdowns from QB Jake Tepley, which gave them a 22-0 lead nearing the half. On their second to last drive of the half the Bluestreaks were able to break through. Their RB Sean Fleming broke off a 22 yard run which set himself up for a 48 yard rushing score to cut into the Braham lead. But the momentum was not done shifting. On the Bombers last drive of the half, Tepley tried to find an open receiver but the pass was tipped and intercepted by Chisholm. Thankfully, Braham's defense was able to hold Chisholm from driving and scoring again before half.

It felt like the Bluestreaks may have some momentum building going into the 3rd quarter. IT was quickly realized that Braham was not going to allow that to happen. They drove down the field on their first possession of the new half and scored off a third rushing touchdown from Senior QB Tepley extending their lead 30-6. Their defense continued to shut down anything Chisholm tried to do which gave their offense great starting field position. The Bombers scored once more at the end of the 3rd, again it was Tepley this time he threw a touchdown to his receiver Gavon Schoeder, which gave them a 37-6 lead starting the final quarter. Chisholm's next drive would end in disaster. A botched snap would put the ball on the ground up for grabs, Tepley would pick up the loose ball and take it back 35 yards for his 5th total TD of the game and they now lead 44-6. After this backups for both teams came in and finished the game with Braham cruising to a 44-6 victory. The Bombers forced four turnovers, ran for over 200 yards and threw for over 100 as well.

With the win Braham ends the regular season 6-2 and 5-1 in section play. They will host a playoff game next Tuesday, as they welcome in South Ridge, a team who they beat in the regular season 50-8. If they win that game they'd play the winner of Mille Lacs and Ely in the 2nd round.
