Downtown Pine City Crash Leaves Business Owner in Critical Condition

Two were sent to the hospital following a crash in downtown Pine City Thursday morning.


According to the incident report, an SUV traveling westbound on 3rd Avenue Southeast and collided with the rear of a parked truck near the intersection of 5th Street Southeast.


The driver of the truck, Dana Philips (owner of The Book Store Pine City), was reportedly outside her vehicle when it was struck, and she was found in the middle of the street several feet away from the collision.


The driver of the SUV told law enforcement that she had a migraine and was traveling was driving to the hospital. The report stated that she did not remember seeing the truck or Philips before the crash. She was reportedly cited for failing to drive with due care.


The incident report went on to say that the driver of the SUV refused transport and was taken from the scene by her husband in a personal vehicle.


Philips was taken to Regions Hospital via helicopter. According to a social media post by her family, ICU undergoing treatment for a fractured skull with bleeding on the brain, two broken ribs, and a lacerated kidney.


Her family is asking for thoughts and prayers as she heals.
