The Dragon boys faced off against East Central last night.
The Eagles came into the game feeling good, winning two of their last three game after the Christmas break. Pine City also came into the game riding a three game win streak.
East Central would scored first, but that's when the Dragons caught fire. They would go on to score 32 unanswered points in a 13 minute stretch. The Eagles found plenty of opportunities to score but the buckets were not falling. They would finally end the scoring drought by hitting a three from Hunter Colton. But the Dragons continued to stay hot going on an 18-2 run to end the 1st half. Pine City's 50-7 halftime lead was due to them staying fresh on the court, they were able to rotate 11 players in the half.
Pine City started the 2nd half how they ended the 1st in control. Their defense continued to play shutdown and create turnovers and the offense scored off of them. The Dragons were able to rotate in even more players in the 2nd half and those players contributed to their lead. East Central seemingly found rhythm on offense in the 2nd half. They would actually outscore Pine City in the 2nd half 29-28, but the deficit was too large to overcome. The Dragons came away with the win 78-36.
Pine City improves to 9-5 on the season and 5-0 in the conference. They will play Hinckley-Finlayson on the road on Thursday.
East Central falls to 4-9 and 3-2 in the conference. They will host Ogilvie on Thursday.
