East Central Energy was awarded over $12 million in grants earlier this month for its fiber internet project.
On March 5, ECE received a border-to-border broadband development grant totaling nearly $5 million.
It’s the fifth grant the co-op has been awarded from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
Those funds will target broadband expansion into southern Mille Lacs County.
ECE also received approximately $7.2 million from the Wisconsin Broadband Office’s Capital Projects Fund on March 7.
That money will cover two separate areas in northern and southern Douglas County.
