Emerald ash borer detected in Burnett County

wcmpnews

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has confirmed the presence of the invasive emerald ash borer in Burnett County.

The pest has now been confirmed in all of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.

According to a DNR news release, staff responded to a report of EAB at a private residence in the town of Meenon on June 13.

Samples were collected from two symptomatic trees, and the insect specimens were identified as EAB in July.

The detection in Burnett County will not result in any federal regulatory changes.
