Grantsburg Man Arrested for Allegedly Shooting at Another Man

A 60-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly shot another man while arguing over money.


According to the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened back in September when deputies received a report of the suspect heading to a Grantsburg home with a gun.


Officers arrived and spoke with the homeowner, who stated that there had been an altercation between the suspect and the male victim. The homeowner went on to say that he heard multiple gunshots; however, both the suspect and the victim left the residence in separate vehicles.


The suspect was later located in his vehicle with a head injury and was taken away by ambulance.


The victim claimed he and the suspect were arguing over money and repair work on a firearm. The victim said that the suspect became angry and started swinging a roofing shovel at him. The suspect then left after the victim hit him in the head with an aluminum bar. He later return with a firearm and reportedly shot at the victim multiple times before the gun jammed.


Law enforcement later executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence, seizing firearms, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.


The suspect was later arrested and is being held in custody.
