The Isanti County Board approved on a resolution to make modifications to speed zones near the schools during their November meeting.
The board voted to change the active school zone hours from their current morning and afternoon time slots to being active whenever children are present.
Richard Heilman, engineer for the Isanti County Highway Department, stated that the department had been in conversations with residents and the schools about making these changes.
The resolution will also see the speed limit on County Highway 5 near the Isanti Intermediate School reduced down from 40 to 30 MPH.
The change comes after an incident took place back in early November when two students were hit by a vehicle just north of the Isanti Intermediate School.
