From the Pine County Sheriff's Office:
"On November 23, 2021, at approximately 02:15 hours, the Pine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress on Hickory Lane in Pine City. The reporting party told dispatch that they could hear someone walking around in their home. When deputies arrived at the residence, they found signs of forced entry into the home and into the garage and could hear sounds coming from the woods nearby.
Prior to this call, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Croix Falls Police Department were involved in a traffic pursuit of a white Hyundai Tucson. The pursuit was terminated as the vehicle crossed into Minnesota from the Wisconsin State line. That vehicle was located at the Hickory Lane address while searching for the suspect in this burglary and was later confirmed to be a stolen vehicle out of Inver Grove Heights.
Deputies on scene activated the K9 Unit and the Drone Team to assist with looking for the suspect in the area. Deputies continued to search relentlessly throughout the early morning for the suspect. While processing the scene of the burglary, deputies located a credit card with a male’s name on it that was later confirmed by a St. Croix Falls Police Officer to match the description of the suspect that was driving the vehicle involved in their pursuit.
At approximately 08:00 hours, the suspect was located on Forest Blvd, Pine City. Shortly thereafter, a resident on Forest Blvd reported that the male suspect attempted to break into their home just before he was located by the Pine County Sheriff’s Office.
A big thank you to Frandsen Bank who donated the drone to the Pine County Sheriff’s Office. The drone has been utilized in several incidents each month this year and has been a great additional tool and resource to our office and our community.
The identity of the suspect who is in custody is being withheld at this time pending formal charges from the Pine County Attorney’s Office."
