Man Dies After Falling from Pontoon on Lower Clam Lake

A 72-year-old man is dead after he reportedly fell from a pontoon on Lower Clam Lake in Burnett County, Wisconsin.

Responders were called to the Meenon Township around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, with the report of a male who had fallen in the water from a pontoon and could not be located.

A Burnett County Sheriff's Deputy and the Siren Police Officer used a resident’s pontoon to go onto the lake while a second deputy used a drone to search from above.

The Deputy operating the drone located the male in the water southeast of where he had fallen from the pontoon. He was brought to shore and tended to by North Ambulance, but the victim was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

The Burnett County Sheriff's Office says the incident is being investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
