Pine City Council looking to fill vacant seat

The Pine City Council addressed filling its vacant seat at Wednesday’s meeting.

The seat was vacated by former council member Steve Ovick, who resigned effective Nov. 27.

Ovick’s term would have expired in 2024.

The city has opened up applications to the public. Applications are due to City Hall by Monday, Jan. 22 by 4:30 p.m.

A special meeting is set for Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. to review and interview candidates for the position.

"I would love to have someone come in and be able to hit the ground running," council member Gina Pettie said during discussion.

The motion to schedule the special meeting passed unanimously.
