Lady Dragons tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt tells us about the action from Thurday's action.
The girls tennis team had another strong showing against a strong Pierz team. The girls won the match 7-0. It was nice to get back to playing matches after a little break to start the week. We started the season so busy that things seem to have really slowed down for us. The girls were anxious to get back on the court to compete.
The team came out strong and battled in many close first sets. However, they continued to step up and dictate the matches by closing out and dominating in the second sets. I am so proud of each player on the team as we stepped up and dictated the style of play and how our opponent would play. We were aggressive with our net play and took advantage of short ball opportunities. It is also exciting to see each player improve as they play throughout the season. Our doubles teams are very active with their net play and signs and our singles players were aggressive to attack the net when possible. It is fun to watch them grow their game everyday! It is also so exciting to see their confidence grow. We have some big matches coming up and will travel more in the final weeks of our regular season.
We will head to Hibbing this weekend to participate in their tournament and then continue our conference matches as we travel to Foley for a big match on Tuesday. JV will host a quad on Saturday and host Foley next Tuesday.
