Pine City Falls to Foley in Section Playoffs

The Dragons hosted the Falcons of Foley on Tuesday night for the opening round of playoffs.

Foley started the game on offense and marched downfield and scored on a 10 yard rushing touchdown from Josiah Peterson. Daniel Dahmen would punch in the 2 point conversion and the Falcons lead 8-0 with 7 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Pine City would drain the remaining 7 minutes off the clock and start the 2nd quarter deep in Foley territory. On 2nd and goal, Jacob Lindahl ran it in from 6 yards out for the score. Unsuccessful on the 2 point attempt they trailed 8-6. The Falcons marched down on offense and would score to extend their lead. Dahmen found Bryce Gapinski in the endzone, they would convert again on the 2 and lead 16-6. Pine City got the ball back with three and a half minutes to work downfield. But on the first play, Ryan Plasek fumbled and it was recovered by Foley. They'd take over 3 minutes off the clock before Gapinski made another receiving touchdown, this one from 6 yards out. After the successful PAT Foley lead 23-6 and that would be the score from half.

After half neither team could find the endzone in the 3rd quarter, as the defenses stepped up. Early in the 4th quarter Pine City made their way inside the redzone. Jimmy Lindblom found Kameron Jusczak from 11 yards out, Brody Clark converted the 2 and the Dragons were down by 9. Late in the 4th quarter Caden Ruhoff broke free of a couple Dragon tacklers and found the endzone from 34 yards out. The Falcons made the extra point and lead 30-14. Unfortunately, Pine City could not score again and Foley got the victory.

Pine City's season comes to an end, but they should be proud of the way they played all season long and their accomplishments.

Foley will play in Spectrum on Saturday at 2PM.
